Clinton's address about the Haitian invasion

President Clinton's Haiti Address Part 01

Uploaded on Jun 18, 2011
The 82nd Airborne was in route under the name Operation Valient Dragon until former President Jimmy Carter struck an agreement. If they wouldn't have made an agreement, when Jimmy Carter left the buiding he was to make a specific hand signal and the 504 Devils would have overrun Port Au Prince in a matter of minutes...Since they did come to an agreement the 82nd was turned back and the mission was handed over to 10th Mountain Division under the new name Uphold Democracy

It's a shame, misfortune just seems to keep falling on Haiti. They held a successful slave revolt, yet today they still suffer.

My family is from Haiti, so this is close to home. Haiti was the first country in the Caribbean to gain their independence. It's so sad how it came to this. They just want the same opportunities as everyone else who comes to the United states. They are trying to escape the poverty and dismantled government.

Such a sad story for Haiti, sad that a power hungry general and a couple thousand men could destroy a country and leave people suffering to the point in which they would ratter die than continue living in the torment.

Being a haitian descendant it saddens and sickens me how HAITI is the first black country to gain their independence and also the eye opener to many others leading them to theirs, yet it feels like we're still somehow mentally enslaved and dependent of other powerful countries to survive, govern our own country or even protect our citizens. also once called "la perle des antilles" (The pearl of the Antilles) because of its natural beauty and wealth yet still struggles of poverty, just unbelievable and sad.
