It shocked me how just 150 years a go Mexico had such a low literacy rate. I had no clue that they lagged behind the US that much. It also caught me by surprise when they mentioned that Mexico had over 70 presidents in just 66 years!

I didn't know that for Pulque they used a strain of an agave plant, found that quite interesting.

Coming from a third world country it's expected to have such economic and educational instability. The fact that the political sector was highly unstable contributed to this and further held Mexico back; but, it was still surprising to hear Dr. Brooks mention all the leaders over the course of the 66 years.
