Thomas Jefferson and John Adams' faith in humanity

I agree with John Adams. it is very dangerous to have excesssive faith on the people. That is why a land needs to have laws to govern the people, and they can't put the law into their hands like what John Adam witness a man was punished by stripping all this clothes in front on everybody and pour aspalh all over his body during the first part of the mini series
