Today in 1929 ..... Leon Trotsky


Today in 1929, Leon Trotsky was expelled from the USSR. He lived in Turkey, France, Norway and finally in Mexico where he was killed in 1940 by Ramón Mercader, a Spanish born Soviet agent, in 1940.

Leon Trotsky was born Lev Davidovich Bronshtein in 1879 as the son of a Jewish farmer and grew up speaking Russian and Ukranian. He suffered revolutionary exile form 1896 to 1902. He rose to become the number 2 leader of the Soviet Union under Lenin after the 1917 Revolution but was expelled from the USSR by Stalin and eventually assassinated.

For man that says he has poor english he is quite clear in enunciation, and pronunciation. I am surprised at his execution of english.
